In order to exploit the development potential of the 50-hectare area in the southwestern part of the city, the Municipality of Kecskemét intends to implement a complex development program in the area of ​​Homokbánya, to which many projects are connected.

Among the already implemented projects aimed at the renewal of the district are the Katica Nursery with 4 group rooms and a useful floor area of ​​700 m 2 , the building providing municipal social services and the Péter Lestár Education Center (Mercedes Benz Schule), which has been renovated inside and out. The newly established nursery indirectly contributes to the development of the youthful age composition of the district, by making the settlement of Homokbánya more attractive for young families with small children.

Among the projects under implementation is the "Green City in Homokbánya", which aims to develop the area, improve the quality of the living environment, and renew public spaces in an environmentally friendly, family-friendly and climate-friendly way. The park will be equipped with a "Wheel City Bike Park", a cycling skills course, a road safety course and a running track. In addition, a building of about 500 m 2 will be renovated to provide enclosed space and indoor/outdoor space for the activities planned in the recreation area. A recreational play park will be built adjacent to the green area and the adjacent social facilities.

At the same time, the Municipality's employee housing program, launched in 2002, will continue.
